Comments Andrew G Steel, CEO of The Treedom Group, the parent company of Asia Forestry,

We had a great feedback from industry professionals particularly in strengthening business relationships and generating brand exposure into the international fragrance industry. Additionally, the WPC 2012 allowed us to promote and demonstrate our high quality of oud oil to all visitors as we were the only oud supplier exhibiting.”

Oud Oil has become quite a fashionable ingredient in the perfume industry in recent years, but has remained a high value ingredient due to its scarcity and the challenges faced in obtaining adequate quantities of quality oud with a consistent note. The fragrance of oud oil varies according to where it has been grown, with Aquilaria trees grown along the Cambodian border being of particular sought after for their high quality and intensity.During the past few years, Asia Forestry Distillery has developed large scale plantations in South East Asia with over 60 well-managed plantations as well as efficient distilling processes to enable us to provide consistently high quality and volume to worldwide perfume houses.”

He continues:

Oudis popular in the Middle East as a fragrance in its own right, applied directly to the skin and used in diffusers, and although the international use of the oil is somewhat different, it is still a sought after base for perfume of all notes to add both intensity and longevity.

Occurring every two years, the World Perfumery Congress (WPC) is an educational and networking forum uniting fragrance industry professionals, their suppliers and marketers to address and discuss solutions to the industry’s latest challenges.

The Asia Forestry Group is engaged in forestry management, with over 60 Aquilaria plantations and significant expertise in cultivating high quality trees for luxury aromatic oils. Asia Forestry Distillery is a preferred supplier of high grade pure oils with no additives and one of the largest Oud Oil manufacturing facilities in Thailand, and together the companies under the banner of the Treedom Group control the complete valuechain from seed to oil production ensuring consistent natural quality, production and worldwide distribution.

Adds Steel,

As the first factory in the industry aiming to attain ISO-9001 accreditation, together with our CITES certification for worldwide distribution, we demonstrate our constant desire to improve both our services and products giving us a competitive advantage in the region.”
